Photos from the State Funeral Service for Celine Dion’s Husband Rene Angelil

Celine Dion laid her late husband Rene Angelil to rest yesterday, Friday 22nd of January at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Canada.
She attended the funeral with her three children – Rene-Charles, 14, and five-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy – and they stood in front of the casket outside of the church for several minutes until the bells rung and it was placed in the hearse.
14-year-old Rene Charles gave an emotional eulogy at the ceremony. He said “Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father. You had a busy life, but we were communicating through golf, hockey, poker, and smoked meat. And a lot of other wonderful food. Bonding more and more as time went by. You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers. As they grow older without you being around, I’ll make sure to pass on what I’ve learned from you. You are a tough act to follow, but with your help everything is going to be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we are all going to live up to your standards.”

US John Kerry speaks on the arms deal scandal, applauds Buhari's anti-corruption drive

United State Secretary of State, John Kerry, has applauded President Buhari for his anti-corruption drive. Speaking at the ongoing World Economic Forum holding in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry spoke on corruption and how it threatens global stability, growth and future. He drew example from Nigeria, its fight against Boko Haram and how findings from the arms deal investigations showed that corruption stalled the fight against terrorism...

“When Nigeria’s President, Buhari, took office last spring, he inherited a military that was under-paid, underfed and unable to protect the Nigerian people from Boko Haram. One reason is that much of the military budget was finding its way into the pockets of the generals. And just this week, we saw reports that more than 50 people in Nigeria, including former government officials, stole nine billion dollars from the treasury,” he told the delegation

Photos: Ooni of Ife visits Alaafin of Oyo...first time an Ooni will visit an Alaafin since 1937

History was made on Sunday January 17th when the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II paid an unexpected visit to the Alaafin Of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi who was celebrating his 45th coronation anniversary on the throne. It was the first time in 79 years that an Ooni of Ife will visit an Alaafin of Oyo, following a cold war of supremacy said to have been in existence between the (previous) two monarchs for over 7 decades. The last time a reigning Ooni of Ife visited an Alaafin was in 1937.

Oba Ogunwusi while speaking at the thanksgiving service said though he was not invited, he had to make an effort to come so as to end the war and foster unity within the Yorubas both home and abroad.

“I am here today, though not invited, but as the Arole Oduduwa, the onus is on me to felicitate with all sons and daughters wherever they are and to show my solidarity for them. I am ready to damn any consequences or insinuations from anywhere; my mission here is to preach peace among nations of Yoruba both home and abroad and I am ready to work with Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Olayiwola Adeyemi to project the unity and love which existed in days of our forefathers.” The Alaafin of Oyo expressed his excitement at seeing the Ooni in his domain " “This special visit was done last in March 1937, that was the first time the kings in Yorubaland met in Oyo town and today history was made with the visit of Arole Oodua, Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and I feel delighted to host you and to reassure you that I will be ready to work with you. I had a cordial relationship with Ooni Adesoji Aderemi and I did not want to relent my bound with any Ooni of Ife that assumed the post but everybody has his own little differences.”he said

Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas 2013

The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas 2013

jadore: Art Decor

We are currently working on transitioning Nolan’s room into a toddler’s room and I have been searching for art pieces to complement the color and theme. When I came across Minted, I was excited at the variety they offered. Minted is an online marketplace that connects people with independent artists from all over the world. They source their awesome pieces through on-going art competitions.
From so many options, I selected an alphabet art, numbered art and a giraffe art d├ęcor. Nolan is at that stage where he recites his alphabets and numbers so any fun art that enhances learning is a winner.
